This Sunday 7th June I will be presenting the project ‘For her’ at CARU [Contemporary Arts Research Unity] Conference 2015, at Oxford Brookes University.
According to UNICEF, approximately 1.2 million children are trafficked every year. Most of these children are exploited in prostitution.
‘For her’ is an interdisciplinary piano recital developed as my artistic comment against human trafficking and sexual exploitation of girls and young women. While exploring other proposals for the piano recital, I hope this project can be an opportunity to raise awareness and bring discussions about that horrendous crime.
The conference will happen from 11am to 6pm, featuring very interesting papers and performances (please see event schedule below).
I will give a brief talk about my research at 1pm, and will perform ‘For her’ at 2:10pm.
It will be my pleasure to see you there!
ps: if you can come and want to bring a doll to join ‘For her’, she will be more than welcome!

Special thanks to Alice Aldous, Hannah Dray, Jo Pickering and Veronica Cordova as the voices re-telling victims’ stories;
And many many thanks to all who have been sending dolls to join the project. This project is for her, for each one of our girls.
